- Online medical malpractice database reinstated with conditions
Nov 11, 2011
Earlier this fall we wrote about the removal of the National Practitioner Data Bank which contains information regarding the medical malpractice records of doctors throughout Pennsylvania and the rest of the nation. The Health Resources and Services Administration, which is an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, took the site down after it was feared that a journalist had accessed more than just the "public use file." This file was commonly used...Read More - Study reveals junk food’s addictive appeal
Nov 11, 2011
The next big product liability class action lawsuit could target junk food peddlers. Scientific studies show that eating junk food — processed food that is low in nutrients but high in fat and calories — can actually mimic addiction in the brain. Pennsylvania consumer advocates and analysts have suggested that the findings could trigger a new wave of class action litigation, similar to the lawsuits filed against the tobacco industry when smokers found out that...Read More - Bam Margera in car accident months after death of friend Ryan Dunn
Nov 11, 2011
This past summer we wrote about the death of MTV reality show star Ryan Dunn in a Pennsylvania car accident. Dunn was intoxicated when he drove his speeding Porsche off the road killing both himself and his passenger. At the time of the drunk driving incident, his friend and fellow MTV reality show star, Bam Margera was quoted as saying the accident was a wake-up call to him. Less than six months later, Bam Margera...Read More - Settlement of $750K reached in death of prison inmate

Whenever a family loses a loved one it is tragic. When a family loses a loved one due to the negligence of another person or entity it is even worse. While nothing can be done to bring that person back, a successful wrongful death lawsuit may provide financial compensation that will make it easier for those left behind to move forward with their lives. The wife of a man who was incarcerated in a Pennsylvania...Read More - Fire hazard leads to recall of Rolls-Royce Ghost sedans
Nov 9, 2011
As we have mentioned in previous posts, the safety of a product is not always directly tied to its cost. This is again made clear in the recent recall of Rolls-Royce Ghost Sedans by Rolls-Royce Motors Inc., a division of BMW. The recall is based on the possibility that a fire could occur due to the overheating of a circuit board. The base price for this vehicle is $245,000. The defective circuit board in question...Read More - Are M.R.I. scans overused in sports medicine?
Nov 9, 2011
For people throughout Pennsylvania who are injured while exercising a M.R.I. scan seems like the logical way to diagnose an injury and determine if surgery is warranted. There are some in the sports medicine field however who do not agree. Some in the field believe that the use of M.R.I. scans is routinely leading to patient misdiagnosis when an exam, taking a history and an X-ray could provide a more accurate diagnosis. The concern many...Read More - Radnor teens waiting for school bus injured when hit by car
Nov 9, 2011
A road that is known by local residents to be treacherous was the scene of an accident last week. Two Pennsylvania teenagers were struck by a car that apparently lost control on a slippery street as they waited for their school bus at the end of a driveway on Conestoga Road near its intersection with Sproul Road in Radnor Township. After the car hit the 15-year-olds it continued on to hit a house. Both teens...Read More - SEPTA train incident results in minor injuries to woman
Nov 4, 2011
Able to move large groups of people in an efficient manner, various forms of mass transportation are relied upon by residents throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Everyday buses and trains transport people from one point to another. In most cases passengers are delivered to their destination unscathed. While precautions are routinely taken to ensure the safety of passengers, in some situations however, people are injured. A Pennsylvania woman is fortunate to be alive and recovering...Read More - Pennsylvania House Bill 9 signed by governor
Nov 4, 2011
Last month we wrote about House Bill 9 that was working its way through the Pennsylvania legislature. Last week that bill was signed into law by Governor Tom Corbett. The intent of the bill is to reduce teen deaths due to motor vehicle accidents. This is important because according to the lead sponsor of the bill drivers of that age are involved in fatal car crashes four times more than adults. Most would agree this...Read More - Workers’ comp denied, court says robberies to be expected
Nov 4, 2011
Businesses throughout the state of Pennsylvania are required to carry workers' compensation insurance policies to cover the costs that may incur should an employee be injured while working. These policies enable employees who have been injured while at work to file a workers' compensation claim to request benefits. As an employee at a liquor store learned firsthand, however, that there are limits on what the benefits will cover. In 2008 the man in this case...Read More
