Pedestrian accident near Albion leaves one seriously injured

A pedestrian accident near Albion has left one person seriously injured, according to police.

Police say that first responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident at around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening after receiving a phone call from an unidentified person. The accident happened at the intersection of Route 6 North and Meadville Road / Pont Road, just west of Albion, PA.

Police say that the pedestrian is seriously injured and that first responders were overheard on the radio calling it a "Class One" injury, otherwise known as the most serious of injuries when arriving at the scene of a crime or accident.

The victim was taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie, but there has not been an update on the status of that victim's health.

One of the most important things to consider if you or a family member is involved in a pedestrian accident case is who holds responsibility and who will ultimately pay for your damages. That responsible party, almost always the driver who hit the pedestrian, unless outside factors were involved, is liable for the injuries to the pedestrian accident victim. However, there are cases where local municipalities are at fault for designing poorly constructed intersections; and other cases where defective components on the vehicle, such as damaged brakes, can cause a pedestrian accident. If this is the case, the vehicle or brake manufacturer can be held liable for victim's injuries.

When all is said and done, however, it is almost always the automobile insurance carrier that pays the victim's hospital bills and compensation for missed time at work and pain and suffering. As such, it is extremely important to secure an effective attorney who will provide all upfront costs and not collect a fee until he or she has successfully represented you and earned you the compensation for damages that you deserve.
