Trucking accident injures one, shuts down I-80 in Hubbard, OH

Early this morning, two tractor trailers were involved in a trucking accident on Interstate 80 in Hubbard, Ohio. The accident took place at around 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-80, just past the Belmont Avenue exit near the weigh station.

Both eastbound lanes were closed for a few hours until authorities were able to reopen one of the lanes, although traffic continued to move slowly along the road. Wayfarers were directed off of the highway and forced to take the Belmont Avenue exit.

It is still unclear how the accident happened, but police say that it may have been caused when one truck drifted into the other. Police have not provided many details of what likely happened and it's still unsure if truck driver fatigue had something to do with the accident.

One of the tractor trailers overturned and slid onto the shoulder, half of the truck still blocking the road. The other truck stayed upright, but ended up cutting hard left into the median, stopping just inches from crossing into westbound traffic. Initial reports claim that at least one person was taken via ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boardman, Ohio.
