Wrongful death lawsuit filed over fatal pedestrian accident

Every year young adults from around the world come to the U.S., and to states like Ohio, to live, study and work. Typically these foreign students or workers are part of a oragnized program aimed to provide young adults with an opportunity to live, study and work in the U.S. While many of these young men and women thoroughly enjoy their stays in the U.S. and return home safely, some are victims of unfortunate accidents.

The family of one 22-year-old Chinese woman recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit after the woman was struck and killed by a car. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred during the early morning hours as the young woman was walking along a busy boulevard. The 22-year-old was in the U.S. on a work visa and employed at an amusement park. The woman's parents contend the company that arranged for her work visa and employment is negligent in contributing to unsafe work conditions that lead to her death.

According to the lawsuit, the young woman's housing and employment were arranged by the company named as a defendant in the wrongful death lawsuit. The defendant is accused of failing to provide for "safe housing", as foreign workers were required to cross a busy boulevard to gain access to busses and other means of transportation.

On the night the 22-year-old woman was killed, she was walking across the busy boulevard when she was hit by a car. Suffering from serious injuries, she was taken to a nearby hospital where she subsequently died. The 19-year-old man who was driving the car that struck the woman is also named as a defendant in the wrongful death lawsuit.
