Fatal tractor accident at Pittsburgh area golf course

Not all motor vehicle accidents involve cars or trucks. As a recent Pittsburgh accident illustrates, they may involve tractors. Those tractors may be outfitted in such a way to make it possible to do things like mow the lawn.

The accident occurred at a golf course located in Bell Township. A man was reportedly in the process of mowing the course's grass when the incident occurred. The tractor he was driving was outfitted with mower blades on the back. As he mowed near the course's 14th hole, for a reason currently unknown, the tractor tipped backwards. When it did so, the man landed on the mower blades.

Sadly the man did not survive the incident and died at the scene. It is unclear how long it took before help arrived or if that had anything to do with his ultimate death.

It is not clear what caused the tractor to tip backwards. According to authorities the Cherry Wood Gold Course is described as having small hills. Despite this, a detective for Westmoreland County indicated that the area in which the man was working was not hilly. It is likely that an investigation will determine just what happened as well as who, if anyone, is to blame.

Often motor vehicle accidents are caused by actions a driver takes. Other times however, automobile defects are to blame. Should a problem with the tractor be found as a cause of the tragic accident, it is possible that a lawsuit against the tractor manufacturer could be filed.
