Fall at Pennsylvania construction site sends man to hospital

Construction sites are ripe for accidents resulting in worker injuries. One of the hazards of working at this type of location is the risk of falling. Earlier this week a construction worker in Pennsylvania was injured when he fell approximately 25 feet.

According to authorities, at the time of the incident the man, who is a foreman on the construction project, was standing on a ladder. As he cut I-beams, it appears that one of them actually bumped into the ladder upon which he was standing, causing it to fall from beneath him. The man fell two stories to the basement of the building. His fall was broken by a pile of wood.

As a result of the construction accident the man reportedly suffered a variety of injuries including a broken ankle, a concussion and a puncture wound to his neck. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of those injuries. At the time he was transported, he was reportedly concious and reponsive.

While some workplace injuries are minor and do not hamper the individual’s ability to work, others such as those incurred in this case will leave the worker unable to complete tasks associated with their occupations. In these instances workers will need time away from work to heal and may seek workers’ compensation benefits to help cover expenses related to the injuries.

While obtaining such benefits is not accomplished via a lawsuit, in many instances injured workers find that engaging the services of a lawyer who handles such matters is beneficial.
