Worker injured at Allegheny County construction site

There are at least as many ways to be injured on a job site as there are different types of jobs. The type of injury sustained at a workplace is commonly dependant on the job to which it is tied. Construction workers are often injured while using dangerous equipment or in falls. Recently a man working in Allegheny County was hurt in a construction accident.

According to an Edgeworth police officer, the man who was working at the Hazel Lane construction site fell approximately 12 feet from a ladder. Just prior to the man falling, the ladder, which was situated in a stairwell, reportedly became unsteady. It was while the man was working to get control of the device that the fall occurred.

When the man fell, he landed on his left hip and leg. The injuries he suffered required paramedics to take him to an area hospital for treatment. While he was definitely hurting, the injuries were apparently not life threatening.

It is not clear what type of recovery the man in this case is facing. It is probable however that he will spend some time away from work healing. During a period of time like this it is easy for medical bills to mount while at the same time the income being brought in dwindles.

Fortunately, most employers in the state of Pennsylvania are required to purchase workers' compensation insurance. Under this insurance a worker is able to file a claim for benefits while healing. The benefits provided can help to cover lost wages and pay medical bills.
