Medical emergency the suspected cause of car accident

Car accidents occur each day in the Pittsburgh area for a variety of reasons. Often, distracted driving is to blame. In other cases, negligent action on the part of the person behind the wheel such as speeding or running a red light is the cause. Sometimes, a motor vehicle accident occurs when the person driving the car experiences a medical emergency of some sort.

A medical incident is the suspected cause of a car accident that occurred earlier this week in Allegheny County. The 73-year-old man reportedly lost control of his car while exiting the Highland Park Bridge located on Main Street. When he did so, his vehicle crossed the center line of the road hit another car.

The only occupant of the vehicle that was struck was a 70-year-old woman. She was taken to a hospital after the accident. She reportedly suffered a broken leg in the incident. The man who was in the out-of-control car was also transported to a hospital after the accident. It was there that he sadly was found to be dead.

Much as we hate to admit it, in this world there are some things that we are not in control of. While there are many things a person who is driving a car can do to avoid motor vehicle accidents, most would agree that in most cases, there is little that can be done to prevent a medical emergency from occurring while a person is behind the wheel. This incident may be an illustration of this. Whether a medical incident is to blame for the collision remains to be seen.
