On-the-job electrocution claims life of Pittsburgh man

There is no question that deaths occur on a regular basis throughout Pittsburgh. While many are due to natural causes, sometimes they happen because of accidents. When those accidents are caused by another person's negligence, the death may lead to a civil wrongful death lawsuit. Fatal accidents prompting these lawsuits sometimes happen while the deceased person is working.

Earlier this week a 26-year-old man died in a job-site accident. The man was reportedly electrocuted in what is being called an industrial accident. At the time of the accident the man was apparently working on a renovation in the building. The accident, which occurred around 7:00 p.m., took place at the Matthews Marking Products building, located near Bakery Square.

Immediately following the incident, co-workers of the man did what they could to attend to his injuries while they waited for the ambulance to arrive. The man was then taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where it was determined that he was dead.

It is not clear how the electrocution occurred. The man may have been on scaffolding as a maintenance worker who was in the building at the time indicated that he heard scaffolding fall. As is generally the case in accidents that occur on the job it is highly likely that an investigation will be launched into the matter.

Another thing that could potentially occur is a wrongful death lawsuit. Once the family of the man has the opportunity to say goodbye to him, they may decide to seek monetary damages for his death. Though such cases are often emotionally difficult, when successful, they provide the necessary finances to move forward with their lives.
