Injuries that result from any motor vehicle accident can be serious in nature and result in those involved sustaining painful and debilitating injuries. Rollover accidents are among some of the most serious and deadly of all motor vehicle accidents. In many cases, those involved in rollover accidents are thrown or ejected from a vehicle as it gains momentum and rolls.

Ohio residents were recently saddened to learn of an accident that occurred on the Ohio Turnpike in which a 15-year-old girl was killed. The fatal rollover accident occurred as an SUV was traveling westbound. A total of seven occupants were in the SUV at the time the accident occurred. According to police reports, the driver of the SUV apparently lost control of the vehicle which then veered off of the road.

The SUV then crashed into a roadside embankment which caused it to overturn and roll. At the time the accident occurred, the 15-year-old girl was seated in far backseat of the vehicle. The momentum and rolling movement of the vehicle resulted in the girl being ejected from the vehicle. The girl was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, but subsequently died.

The accident is still under investigation, but initial reports indicate that wet road conditions may have played a factor. The driver of the SUV may face criminal charges related to the fatal accident. Additional civil charges may also be forthcoming.

In fatal car accidents in which a passenger is killed, the family of the deceased individual may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Not only can taking such legal action help grieving family members find closure, but doing so can also aid in recouping compensation which can be used to pay for many of the unexpected expenses often associated with the sudden loss of a loved one.
