Truck accident shuts down Interstate 81

truck accident involving six vehicles caused the closing of the northbound lanes on Interstate 81 in Silver Spring Township, Pennsylvania. This incident occurred near mile marker 55.5, which is located south of Exit 57 in Cumberland County.

"A vehicle in the left lane, not realizing traffic was slowing, veered into the right hand lane causing a dump truck in the right lane to try and make an evasive maneuver. This maneuver caused the dump truck to overturn and the vehicles ended up colliding," said the spokesman of the state police in an email.

This truck accident caused four other vehicles to collide. Two people were then taken to the Hershey Medical Center via ambulance with minor injuries. Cumberland County authorities said that traffic was diverted at Exit 52 and then was rerouted to Route 11 in Middlesex Township in Eastern Pennsylvania.
