This past Friday, a woman from Massillon, Ohio was killed in a head-on collision in Columbiana County, Ohio. A spokesperson from the Lisbon barracks of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told reporters that the accident happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. along U.S. Route 30 / Lindesmith Road on a stretch between Lisbon and Hanoverton.
The police went on to say that a 25-year-old woman driving a Ford Fusion crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an RV. Reports say that the victim was wearing her seatbelt. When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman's one-year-old daughter awake, crying, and fully alert in her car seat. The little girl was Life-Flighted to Akron Children's Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
The driver of the RV told police that it looked like the woman was distracted by something and was looking down right before the crash, which tied up a section of Route 30 for more than four hours. Police have neither confirmed nor denied the RV driver's statement and have said that, as of now, the accident is still under investigation.
