New Castle man killed in cement truck accident

Tragedy struck Big Beaver Borough on Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. when a man was killed after he crashed the cement truck he was driving. Police and Investigators are saying that a tire on the truck blew out and likely caused the fatal accident.

Police say that the accident happened on a westbound ramp entering I-376. The truck is reported to have turned abruptly and sped off the ramp onto the interstate just shortly before two o'clock. He is said to have likely turned the wheel hard to regain control and then crashed through a guard rail, ending up in a ravine and losing some of his load in the process.

It was originally reported that the man was trapped, but soon after the accident, a coroner was called to the scene to determine the cause of death. The 67-year-old resident of New Castle, PA was driving for Castle Builders Supply, also located in New Castle, and had driven for the company for about twelve years.

Whether it is another distracted driver, a multi-car accident, or defective automotive products like tires, it is extremely important that your full attention is on the road and all points around you.
