Woman awarded $60,000 in medical malpractice lawsuit

Individuals who are stricken with a rare condition or illness often have few choices as to where they are able to seek treatment. In many cases, only a few doctors in the state or country may specialize in the treatment of such conditions. One woman who was diagnosed as a having one such rare condition recently received a $60,000 settlement related to a medical malpractice lawsuit she filed against the doctor who originally treated her.

According to the lawsuit, the woman was diagnosed with a rare condition in which her blood vessels became tangled thereby interfering with normal functioning and blood flow. She sought treatment from a doctor known to be an expert in treating the condition.

Due to her medical condition, the woman experienced painful and bothersome symptoms including damage to her skin, bleeding and continuous pulsing in one ear. In an effort to treat the woman’s condition, the doctor performed a procedure called an embolization.

Weeks passed, upon which the woman returned to the doctor complaining that her ear was bleeding and that parts of it were essentially falling off. In response, the doctor contended that the embolization procedure was the first of many which the woman would require to overcome her condition. He failed, however, to elaborate on the recommended treatment plan or schedule any follow-up appointments or procedures.

Due to the doctor’s negligent acts and failure to treat the woman, she was forced to seek treatment in another state. She recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the doctor related to the pain and suffering she endured as a result of his negligent actions as well as to recover monies related to medical expenses.
