Woman flown to Pittsburgh hospital after head-on collision

Though no one wants to be involved in a car accident they nonetheless happen on regular basis on roads throughout the Pittsburgh area. They arise in a variety of situations and can involve only one vehicle or multiple automobiles. Sometimes the outcome of the accident is minor and any damage or injuries incurred are minor. In other cases however the result can be much more serious.

An accident occurred this week in Lawrence County involving multiple vehicles. According to authorities, the head-on collision occurred on Route 18 when the driver of one vehicle allowed her vehicle to enter into the path of oncoming traffic. Her vehicle then collided with a van that was travelling along the path she entered. Though additional information is currently scarce, apparently additional vehicles were involved in the incident as well.

Depending on a variety of factors, including what parts of vehicles collide and with what force, the severity of the car accident will be determined. Head-on collisions are some of the most dreaded because of the potential outcomes. Perhaps not surprisingly the crash resulted in injuries. The woman driving the car that crossed into oncoming traffic was transported via helicopter to a hospital in Pittsburgh. The nature of her injuries is not known. Miraculously, it does not appear that anyone else was injured in the incident.

At this point it is unclear what caused the woman’s vehicle to swerve and enter into oncoming traffic. It is likely however that the reason will be uncovered as the incident is investigated.
