Workers among those reporting illness at Pennsylvania store

Often when one hears that a worker has received workers' compensation benefits it is assumed that person was involved in some type of accident while on the job. The reality however is that the benefits are also available when a worker becomes ill due to conditions at the workplace. Recently, employees of a Pennsylvania WalMart were among several individuals who became sick while there. The problems people were experiencing involved their throats and ears.

As a result of the people falling ill someone called for emergency help. Ultimately five individuals were transported to a hospital for medical attention. It is not clear who was taken or how long victims remained at the hospital.

Due to the nature of the illness reported, the store was tested for hazardous materials. Despite a hazardous material team being called in the cause behind the illness was not uncovered. Whatever the problem was it appears to have cleared up as the store was eventually able to reopen.

When workplace illnesses result in long-term or permanent injuries, it can be a stressful ordeal. Fortunately, workers' compensation benefits may be available. As one can image, this can really make a difference for an injured worker as well as his or her family. Because it is not uncommon to be denied benefits initially, in many cases it is helpful to work with a lawyer regarding the matter. In addition to helping to secure the benefits, he or she may also be able to make sure a claimant is getting all he or she in entitled to.
