Car accident near Parkway Center Mall involves police trooper

Generally, it is expected that law enforcement will be called to the scene of a car accident, not be involved in one. Nonetheless, as police officers get around in automobiles, it is inevitable that cruisers will at times be involved. This happened one morning last month on Parkway West, near the Parkway Center Mall.

The Pennsylvania State Police cruiser reportedly rear ended another vehicle causing what is being described as heavy damage. As a result of the force of the impact of the car accident, the individual behind the wheel of that car suffered injuries to the head and back. Accordingly, that driver was transported to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. The trooper who was driving the cruiser was also hurt. His injuries, to his wrist, were considered to be minor however.

Circumstances surrounding the accident and why it occurred are unclear. As is the general procedure in the case of a car accident, the incident is reportedly under investigation. Depending on the details of the incident, the investigation may include an accident reconstruction. These reconstructions can usually determine how fast each vehicle was travelling at the time of impact, as well as whether the vehicles attempted to slow via the application of brakes or otherwise avoid he collision.

It is entirely possible the person in the vehicle that was struck will ultimately decide to file a personal injury lawsuit. This is particularly likely if his or her injuries are serious, leading to large medical bills and a long period of recovery. Financial damages could potentially make that process easier.
