ATV crash sends 4 Pennsylvania boys to hospital

Parents of children of all ages are likely aware of how active they can be. Many want to be in constant motion-usually the faster, the better. While bikes and skateboards are popular ways kids find to go fast, it is likely that children who have access to ATVs will take full advantage of the faster motorized vehicles. Unfortunately, earlier this month four children in Pennsylvania were hurt when the two ATVs they were riding collided.

The four boys were reportedly riding the vehicles one afternoon on wooded private property in Neshannock Township. Somehow the two ATVs collided in a head-on crash. Police who responded to the accident scene reported that each vehicle had two boys on it when the crash occurred.

Two of the boys were 10-years-old. The third was 12 years of age and another 13.

Immediately following the crash, neighbors assisted in getting the children out of the wooded area and to the rescue vehicles. Despite the fact that the kids were wearing helmets, all were nonetheless hurt in the incident and were taken to the hospital. Apparently the injuries two of them suffered were considered minor and they were allowed to go home after receiving treatment. The other two however remained in the hospital with more serious injuries, reportedly to the head and face.

No one wants to hear about motor vehicle accidents that result in serious personal injuries. This is particularly true when children are the ones who are hurt. We can all hope that the boys will recover quickly without lingering effects.
