1 dies in fatal car accident on Route 40

While car accidents in general are something that most people want to avoid, the results of head-on car crashes in particular can be devastating. A recent accident in Redstone Township, Pennsylvania illustrates just how devastating it can be. The result of the head-on crash that occurred on Route 40 was the death of one of the people involved.

The accident, which is being investigated by the Redstone Township Police Department, reportedly happened about 30 minutes before midnight. While it is not clear what caused the pickup truck and the car to collide that night, after the initial impact, one of the vehicles involved then hit a utility pole. This resulted in serious damage to the automobile as it was sheared.

There were apparently two people involved in the incident and neither escaped without injury. One of the individuals sadly died at the scene. The other was transported via helicopter to UPMC Mercy Hospital. Details on that driver's condition have not been provided.

It goes without saying that no one ever expects to die in a car accident. Similarly, the loved ones of those who perish in motor vehicle accidents are never prepared for that call. When it does happen however, and negligent behavior of another person is to blame, those left behind may have a course of action in Pennsylvania's civil courts. While a successful wrongful death lawsuit will not bring back the person who has died, the financial damages may make it easier his or her loved ones to move forward with their lives.
