Man working at Pennsylvania GE plant dies in accident

Earlier this week a man working at a General Electric plant in Pennsylvania died after a machinery accident. The fatal work accident occurred at the Buttermilk Hollow Road plant located in West Mifflin. Repairs to power plant components are completed there.

At the time of the incident the man was reportedly in the process of attaching brackets to the ceiling. To accomplish the task, he was using a high lift. As he worked, his head apparently became caught between the ceiling and the machinery. Though he was unconscious when his coworkers got him down, he sadly did not make it. It is not clear how long he was entangled in the machinery before he was rescued.

The death of the man, who was a contractor, rather than an employee of GE, is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Upon his death, in addition to his wife, the man left behind two children as well. It is likely that they, along with his friends, are reeling from his untimely demise. After such a devastating accident occurs, it can often be difficult for the loved ones left behind to know how to proceed. While clearly there is nothing that can be done to bring back the person who has died, family members often find that it is helpful both financially as well as emotionally to file a wrongful death lawsuit. When successful, these lawsuits not only provide the finances many families need to survive after the loss of a provider, but also a sense of closure that makes it easier to move forward with their lives.
