Multiple injuries result when driver steers car into Ohio crowd

A 63-year-old woman drove her car into an Ohio town square where more than a thousand people had gathered for a Friday night music festival.

For an unknown reason, the woman drove her car at a rate of 20 mph approximately 50 feet off the roadway, over a sidewalk and through a garden. The car finally came to a rest when it struck a sculpture in the town square, but only after plowing through a crowd with about 50 people gathered in the immediate area.

Approximately 30 of these people were injured as a result of the pedestrian accident. Some were pinned under the car, and were freed when the car was lifted by bystanders. Others were thrown in the air when struck by the moving vehicle.

Fortunately, no one died in this unusual accident. However, some of the victims of this motor vehicle accident suffered serious injuries to their legs, heads and necks. Several victims were transported to the hospital to be treated.

According to a police investigation, it appears that this car crash involving pedestrians was purely accidental. This means that the police do not believe that the woman had any intent to harm anyone with her vehicle.

However, the investigation is still ongoing. No charges have yet been filed against the woman who caused the crash. That may change once toxicology reports are finalized and a determination is made as to whether the crash was alcohol related.

Regardless, this driver will most likely face personal injury claims as a result of this Ohio motor vehicle accident.
