Product liability is the idea that a manufacturer or seller of a product is responsible if the product they make or sell is defective and causes harm to the person who buys it. Some parties who may be liable is a product liability case are the original manufacturer, the manufacturer of components and parts within the product, the wholesaler, or the store that sold the product to the customer.
Among other past cases, Dallas Hartman was able to secure a settlement for a man who was injured when a part from a chain saw he was using was defective and caused the man serious injuries. Another case, from 2008, saw Attorney Hartman collect a settlement of nearly $3 million for an Ellwood City man who suffered serious, lasting injuries when a Bobcat backhoe/loader struck the man in the head on a work site. Dallas was able to prove that, unlike other similar machines, Bobcat did not provide safety bars around its controls in order to prevent sudden movements of the machine that are caused by accidentally bumping into one of its mechanized levers.
