In our prior post, we discussed the disparity that occurs in an accident involving a pedestrian and an automobile. There is another type of accident in which the injuries are also very different for one driver than another. Motorcycle accidents are another type of crash that often leads to serious injuries for the cyclist.

A collision recently occurred in Ohio involving a large cement truck and not one, but three motorcycles. Two cyclists were killed in the accident and another was left in critical condition after suffering severe burns.

The accident occurred on Jan. 31, 2012. It was a Tuesday afternoon in Ohio. Three motorcycles were riding together along U.S. 52 when one of them drifted over the double yellow line after failing to negotiate a curve. Just as he did so, a concrete truck came around the corner and collided with the motorcycle.

When the collision occurred, the cement truck rolled over and slid into the other two motorcycles. The two motorcycles then caught fire, causing the burns to the surviving victim. The surviving cyclist was taken by helicopter to UC Hospital. The driver of the cement truck was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol continue to investigate the fatal motorcycle accident that injured two and caused the families of the other two riders to suffer the loss of a loved one.
