Pennsylvania Couple Dies in Tragic Car Accident in New York

The holidays turned tragic this year for a family from West Chester, Pennsylvania as they traveled through Paris, New York. The Pennsylvania family faced snow and hard blowing winds as they made their way through central New York. Unfortunately, the family's trip turned tragic last Tuesday afternoon when the family car lost control on a highway covered in snow.

The family was traveling in their 2002 Honda Civic on New York State Route 12 and was heading northbound when the accident occurred. The driver of the car and the father of the family lost control of the car on the snow-covered highway and slid into the oncoming lane. The side of the family's car collided with the front end of an oncoming 1995 Buick Park Avenue. The father and mother suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The car accident occurred near the town of Paris, New York around 2:00 p.m. last Tuesday.

The daughters of the couple were also in the car at the time of the accident as well as the family dog. The two daughters, ages 15 and 12, were riding in the backseat of the Honda Civic with the family dog and suffered minor injuries. The Jaws of Life were used to free the two girls and the dog. The two girls were taken to a local hospital and were later released into the custody of a family relative. The family dog is currently under the care of an organization that is an animal caretaker and will later be released to the family.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department high wind and snowy conditions coupled with an unsafe driving speed contributed to the accident. All drivers and passengers in the car accident were wearing seat belts.
