Grass trimmer and hedge trimmer recalled

Lawn jockeys throughout the state of Pennsylvania should take note. A recall has been issued for grass and hedge trimmers manufactured in by Husqvarna Machinery Manufacturing Co. Ltd. This is second grass trimmer recall we have written about in the past month or so. The previous recall pertained to a defective product manufactured by Honda.

This recall involves a total of 19,500 grass trimmers. An additional 6,500 hedge trimmers were also included in the recall as they are experiencing the same issue. The devices were sold throughout the nation beginning in May 2011. Sales ceased in January 2012.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the pieces of machinery, manufactured in China, are experiencing problems with gas leaking. The leak apparently occurs between the tank and the fuel line. Presumably, it is feared that the leak could lead to a fire. Fortunately however, so far no injuries have been reported as a result of the problem.

The model of the grass trimmer is 122C. The relevant serial numbers are 2011 17 00001 through 2011 52 99999. The hedge trimmer in question is models 122HD60 and 122HD45. Its serial numbers are all those included between 2011 17 00001 and 2011 52 99999.

News of the recall comes at a good time for those owning either of the products in the Pittsburgh area. Things are turning green and beginning to grow making the need for such tools right around the corner. Anyone who owns either the grass or hedge trimmer can return the equipment to the retailer from which they purchased it. It will be repaired free of charge.
