On Tuesday, a man from Erie was convicted of DUI, hit-and-run, and striking a pedestrian with a motor vehicle, among other things. The accident happened last October 2nd in downtown Erie at the intersection of Wayne Street and East 12th Street near TJ's Traffic Jam and Kosciuszko Park. After hitting the woman, he fled the scene, but was eventually apprehended nearly twenty blocks away, close to the intersection of Brandes Street and East 28th Street.

In addition to spending two years in jail, the 26-year-old man was ordered to pay $2000 in court costs and fines. According to Judge Ernest J. DiSantis, Jr., he must also undergo drug and alcohol counseling while in jail.

During sentencing, the man apologized for injuring the victim and told the judge that he planned on spending his time in jail wisely so that he could come back to society a changed man, and make his family proud of him once again.
