Truck drivers are among some of the most experienced and skilled of all drivers on the road. The men and women who make a living hauling products and goods across the country drive thousands of miles and encounter many challenging driving situations. In an effort to keep all drivers and passengers on the road safe, commercial truck drivers must also follow strict guidelines and laws when it comes to driving hours, time off and vehicle maintenance. They must also, of course, abide by the same safe driving laws as all drivers.

Four semi trucks were recently involved in an accident along Ohio's I-75 while attempting to navigate through a construction zone. According to the police report, the truck accident resulted because three of the trucks were following too closely.

When the 26-year-old driver of the leading truck attempted to slow his rig when entering a construction zone, he was rear-ended by a semi driven by a 41-year-old man. The initial crash set off a chain reaction in which two additional trucks were also involved. All three of the drivers were reportedly following too closely and were unable to stop in time.

Two of the truck drivers suffered injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Thankfully, no cars or smaller vehicles were involved in this multiple-semi crash.

Due to their considerable size and weight, large commercial trucks and vehicles are often more difficult to maneuver and stop. Ohio drivers and passengers who have been impacted by an accident involving a large truck may choose to take legal action. In cases where a truck driver is believed to be negligent in causing an accident, taking legal action can help individuals recover compensation related to injuries, lost wages and medical expenses.
