Parents sue truck driver and trucking company after fatal accident

Drivers of large commercial trucks bear a great responsibility. Truck drivers often work long hours and therefore face safety concerns related to fatigue and exhaustion. There is also growing concern among many highway safety advocates related to dangerous distracted driving behaviors among drivers of commercial vehicles.

The considerable size and weight of commercial vehicles make them especially dangerous when involved in trucking accidents. The parents of two women who were killed in a fatal accident involving a tractor trailer recently filed a lawsuit against both the truck driver and trucking company for which he worked.

The fatal car and truck accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. as the two women were driving along a highway. At this same time, the driver of a tractor trailer truck merged onto the highway on which the women were traveling. The truck driver, however, failed to stop at a stop sign and yield right of way to the car in which the two women were traveling.

As a result of the truck driver's negligent acts, the tractor trailer crashed into the women's car. Both women suffered fatal injuries. The women's parents have filed separate lawsuits against both the truck driver and the trucking company at which he was employed at the time the fatal accident occurred.

The lawsuits both contend the truck driver was negligent in failing to obey traffic laws, maintain proper lookout and yield the right of way. The parents are seeking damages related to loss of companionship and mental anguish and suffering as well as funeral expenses.
