New Castle car accident injures one

A head-on car accident in New Castle, Pennsylvania has injured one woman. The accident happened on Falls Street in Lawrence County near Apple Way. Yesterday afternoon as a woman driving a silver sport utility vehicle was pulling out of a parking lot on Falls Street a white sedan was pulling in. The two cars collided in a head-on collision and driver of the sedan was injured. She was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The past few weeks in Western Pennsylvania have been full of winter weather. Snow, cold temperatures, and freezing rain have caused the roads to be in extremely dangerous condition and because of this, many accidents have happened throughout the area. To help you avoid accidents in this snowy weather, we have compiled five key tips to winter weather driving:

1. Accelerate and decelerate slowly. If you try to accelerate or stop too quickly, you are more likely to lose control of your car.

2. Increase the following distance between you and the car in front of you from 4-5 seconds to 8-10 seconds. This will allow you to be able to stop if needed without hitting the car in front of you.

3. Don't stop when driving up hills. It is extremely difficult to get moving on icy roadways when you are on a steep incline.

4. Know your brakes and the stopping distance for your car. Also, know whether you have anti-locking brakes or not.

5. Do not drive. If possible, stay home when the roads are bad!
