Fiery truck accident along the Pennsylvania Turnpike

We share the roadways with tractor-trailers every day all across the United States. Commercial trucks can weigh more than 80,000 pounds and travel at fast speeds amongst other trucks, cars and vehicles. When two of these commercial trucks collide both driving at fast speeds and weighing thousands of pounds, the outcome can sometimes be very scary.

This past Wednesday along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, there was a truck accident involving two tractor-trailers. In the Westbound lanes near the Cranberry exit, one of the tractor-trailers was pulled off on the side of the road when the other truck hit it from behind. The one truck was immediately engulfed in flames from the impact of the collision.

Both of the truck drivers were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries. Officials have reported that their injuries are not life-threatening and that the drivers will recover from the accident. Trucking companies and their insurance providers have investigators take a look at the scene to try and protect their position and limit the chance that they will have to pay for the harm done by any negligence. Authorities are also investigating the accident as well.

Most of the accidents and injuries that happen while on the job involve motor vehicle accidents. Being a truck driver, they are out on the road almost every day for their entire career, which puts them at risk every time they hit the road. Whether it is an accident from fatigue or because of another vehicle, driving a tractor-trailer is never an easy task. All drivers must be alert and defensive while on the road at all times. Driving a truck that weighs thousands of pounds at high speeds is very dangerous as we all know, so we need to share the road and drive as safely as possible.
